Journey to the Center of the Earth

About the story

In Journey to the Center of the Earth, Axel’s uncle, a geology professor, finds a secret code written by a 16th-century explorer, who claims he has been to the center of the earth. The professor packs up and sets off, reluctant nephew in tow, for the designated entry point:  an extinct Icelandic volcano. With the help of a native guide,  the expedition descends and discovers an underwater sea, glowing rocks, primeval forests, outlandish creatures, and living clues to the origins of human life. This exciting story emphasizes the importance of living your dreams, and makes it clear why Jules Verne is considered “the father of science fiction.”
